Fault Isolators

Definition of a fault isolation Module CAN/ULC-S536-13

3.21 - FAULT ISOLATION MODULE - A device used in data communication links for wire-to-wire short circuit fault protection.

CAN/ULC -S524-14 Standard for Installation.

10.2.1.44 - Except as noted in Clause 10.2.1.5 data fault isolators, shall be located in a separate enclosure and installed so as to be visible and accessible at all times.

CAN/ULC - S536-13 Standard for inspection and Testing

​

6.3.1 C - Where power isolation modules are installed in a power distribution riser serving field devices, wiring shall be shorted on the isolated side, annunciation of the fault confirmed, and then a device on the source side shall be operated, and activation confirmed at the control unit or transponder.

E.V.S. SM-001 - Is designed to be permanently installed as a test switch on the isolated side of each isolator serving field devices. Test switches may be conveniently installed anywhere, on isolated side.

 

Don't forget to label your EVS test switches.
